About Cariad

Cariad International School in Chiang Mai is the only international school in the region that combines Finnish Early Childhood Education with the UK national curriculum. In partnership with schools in Wales,the school integrates traditional British culture and offers an exclusive learning experience.
1. Finnish Early Childhood Education (Established in 2015 with the University of Helsinki):At Cariad, we focus on nurturing children’s growth in a joyful,open environment that fosters social skills and ingenuity, encouraging them to explore and create in nature. Our early childhood program uniquely combines the Finnish system with the UK's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Inspired by Finland’s national curriculum, we employ a play-based approach intertwined with elements from the British academia.This syllabus is designed to provide children with an innovating and inspiring learning environment in which they can develop interpersonal skills, diagnostic abilities, and originality through free exploration and interaction. Small Class Sizes: Supporting Every Child’s Growth and Feelings • Early Years: Each class has only 15 children, with one lead teacher and two assistant teachers, ensuring a 1:5 teacher-student ratio. This allows for personalized attention and care for every child. • Primary to Middle School: Classes comprise 16 students, supported by one main teacher and one assistant teacher, with an approximate teacher-student ratio of 1:8. This creates a nurturing environment where students receive the attention and support they need.

Cariad means “love, dear” in Welsh.
On the renowned Glamorgan Hills in Wales, a rock engraved with the word “cariad”—meaning "love" or "dear" in Welsh. This ancient inscription,with its legends and untold stories, stirs a sense of curiosity that echoes our school's passion for exploration and discovery.The Principal of Cariad International School is from Wales, UK, and we look forward to fostering more cultural exchange and cooperation with Welsh schools. This will provide students with increased opportunities for exchange programs, friendly competitions, and visits.
